for iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile
Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air today announced the launch of three mobile applications designed for iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile users. The free applications are available for download at http://www.alaskaair.com/mobile. Unlike the Web-optimized mobile.alaskaair.com site, the applications are custom built for each device and can be downloaded directly to the smartphone.
“Alaska and Horizon Air’s mobile apps offer people access to the most frequently used functions they need on the day of flight,” said Steve Jarvis, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing, sales and customer experience.
The native applications provide customers flight status information, flight schedules, flight alerts and a link to Web check-in. Customers can also log in to “My Trips” to view their itineraries, change seats, check their upgrade status, and add an Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan number to a reservation. The applications also give customers access to download electronic boarding passes.
The Cellflare application uses your mobile devices GPS system to locate you and your contacts on the move in real time. The application boasts features such as the Quick Locate PIN, GeoFencing, eCouponing and real-time history and speed functions. Cellflare now includes the Parental Lock feature. Cellflare is a FREE Mobile Device Application. Parental Lock was added to Version 2.0. Version 3.0 is available now for the Blackberry, iPhone and Palm featuring Friends on the Map and IM with Cellflare Messenger. Coming in March for the Android.

There are so many iPhone travel apps out there today it can be confusing. Call me old-fashioned, but in my opinion there is nothing more effective than using a good travel guide. Before a trip it is always best to check out an online travel guide like http://www.twitter.com/dozentravel. There are now so many iPhone travel apps on the market that people will stop looking at the scenery and enjoying their vacation, instead they’ll be using their smartphone to find out info, text, check emails, flight news and whatever else. We managed quite well without travel apps and iphones.
