A Toronto based company called Cellflare has designed a downloadable mobile phone application that allows users to share their location with other users using nothing more than their phone and a computer. Using your phone’s GPS system, the application can locate you and update your movements in real time. This information is displayed to other users on Cellflare’s website map.

Unlike other location based services, Cellflare allows you to locate multiple users simultaneously. Taking the concept of staying connected to a whole other level, Cellflare also reads how fast you are travelling, and can locate users within 5 meters of their exact location.

On the website, the Quick Locate feature allows unregistered guests to peek at a desired user’s whereabouts. Each user creates a PIN number on their profile and once a guest types in their phone number and PIN their location is revealed to them. Each user has the ability to change their PIN as often as they want, giving them total control over their privacy.

Cellflare’s GeoFence feature is great for setting boundaries around desired locations. Once other users enter or exit an active fence a notification is sent to their email. This is ideal for destinations expecting deliveries as they too can receive an email informing them that the user has reached their area. It is also great for setting boundaries for children. Cellflare also allows you to retrace your recent history on your account. Now users can revisit their past trips or past ventures of other contacts by searching previous dates and times.
