Virgin Mobile Canada has announced it will launch iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in Virgin Mobile Retail Stores and online in Canada in the coming months. For more information on iPhone, please visit www.apple.com/iphone
Although the Press Release stated information about the “Virgin Mobile group of companies” (see below or after the break) Virgin Mobile Canada was fully acquired by BCE on February 17th, 2009. Prior to that date Virgin Mobile Canada was half owned by Bell and its traffic piggybacked on the Quebec-based company’s nationwide network.
Analysts stated that Bell was buying the second half for $142-million dollars to both stuff new products in its newly acquired electronics retailer The Source, and fend off a raft or new discount competitors expected over the next couple of years.
In February BCE CEO George Cope said the Virgin brand will be introduced into stores by early January 2010, after The Source’s existing contract with Rogers Communications Inc. expires, giving BCE 750 outlets to sell its Internet, television and not least, wireless packages.
Look forward to the Source carrying the iPhone early in 2010…will it also be PAY AS YOU GO?
The Cellflare application uses your mobile devices GPS system to locate you and your contacts on the move in real time. The application boasts features such as the Quick Locate PIN, GeoFencing, eCouponing and real-time history and speed functions and is available via Blackberry App World.
